The Lost Symbol (Genre - Books)

The much awaited book The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown is out ... and if reviews are to be believed then its not as earth shattering as the Da Vinci code nor as cryptic as Angels and Demons - both of which are on my list of good reads.

But the lost symbol does share some lineage with the above two books - Robert Langdon no prizes for that. What it also shares is the secret society of Freemasons, a treasure to find ... something to do with the masons and lot of hidden clues to find across Washington.. of course one nasty lunatic villain who would go to any extent to find the treasure.

So, I hope not to have spoiled the plot...but like with many other books - Dan Brown has set the expectations very high with his previous best sellers.Nevertheless I would read this book just to keep up to one of my favourite authors.

It might not have the universal fight between religion and science as in Angels and Demons nor has the conceptual and historically brilliant plot of Da Vinci Code - but the very fact that he covers topics which trace back the roots of hidden societies and unspeakable language of hidden meanings will make it a worthwhile read.
